Christmas really is such a time to be a blessing to others as we've throughout the year been blessed abundantly. This time, I was invited to help facilitate a program with the owners of Secret Garden which is the boutique that I consign my jewelries too. It was a really great oppotunity for us to spend a small amount of our time to give back to the society what little (or a lot) that we had. And in return, the joy and smiles on the faces of the children really blessed our hearts many fold.
The journey started at 8am with 5 cars convoying to the care center to greet the children nice and early. We arrived at Jireh Village at 9am. Jireh means God the Provider in Christian terms, which was such an appropriate name for a home for underpriviledge children and senior citizens. We were early to set up and prepare the gifts that were purchased by customers from Secret Garden (with every RM 150 that they spent). I prepared and girded myself for a roudy bunch but was pleasantly suprise to find them very well behaved. They were a bunch of cutie-pies that were craving for attention for most of the time but when the activities started, they instinctively sat down and listened to instructions. We even got them to make photo frames out of recycled cardboards and anything we could find. A little scarp book kinda project that was so much fun! We got super glue and all sorts of ribbons and findings all over our hands but nobody bothered much about the mess. We just had fun!
Talk about killing two birds with one single stone. We not only reached out to underpriviledge children, we also tackle enviromental issues and tried to instill them into the children, which I hope, got across to them. We really should do it more often and not wait till Christmas. See you soon kiddos!
