Destination: Bangkok

Finally, some updates on this blog. December was a full month of Christmas preparations before we ushered in the New Year! I'm not saying that January is not, although I only managed to get a breather mid of the month in Bangkok. It wasn't exactly a relaxing trip except for the aromatherapy massage sessions that I had to have every night. Bangkok is after all a 100 over year old bustling city that almost never sleeps. So, being relax in a city? Uh, almost never! We were practically running from place to place trying to fit in as much shopping as we could. Needless to say, we shopped till we dropped!

Bangkok's such a reasonable place to visit. Everything was so cheap and food was extremely tasty. So, it didn't 'quite' burn a hole in my pocket. I only wished I had more time (which is why I'm going back again end Feb) to shop. Of course, I was looking out for new sources and bead stores but they were a tad bit disappointing as I hardly came across any. But I found some really cool and interesting faceted diamante jewelry which I brought back for you gals! I thought you might like a breath of fresh air, away from something that was not handmade but sourced by me personally on my trips overseas. You can view them on my website (www.szeaccessories.com) under the "Travels" tab. Although it's not handmade by me, it is still handpicked, scrutinized and chosen by me. And I only pick the latest fashion according to what I would wear and nothing less.

Aside from shopping, of course, we saw some wonderful sights, especially the one from the top of the State Tower. It was a magnificent view to behold! The place made me feel like I could get married there. We had drinks at Sirocco, The Dome at the State Tower at their sky bar. There was nothing ahead of us, just vast land of twinkling fairy lights below with only a piece of glass seperating us from the air beyond. A life jazz band played hoisted onto a high platform alike singing in the clouds. Of course I'm exaggerating but it was 'the' place to visit in Bangkok. Besides, Sirocco, most of the soho places in Bangkok have a really great sense of modern interior design and architecture. Even the food court at the malls were tastefully designed with one such having aquariums in the middle of the island tables.

Above: At Route 66 at the RCA strip of clubs. The club that I went to had a live band in the ladies' powder room.

Above: Bangkok is a shopping haven, literally. This indoor garden at Siam Paragon was euphoric.

Above: The market that everyone talks about. I prefer Suan Lum night market which is like Chatuchak except that it only opens from 6pm-2am, which in my preference- is a much cooler time to shop.

Well, that's as much as I'll share this round. I'll see load more during my second trip there this month. But if you've been to Bangkok before and have any interesting places to visit, hotels to stay in, eateries or places of relaxation, do e-mail me at szeyoong@szeaccessories.com or drop a comment on this post to share them with me. I hope to hear from you soon! Happy Holidays!
